In view of very high energy costs and global warming issues, we are trying conserve energy in the following ways:

We have our own spring fed water supply.

We only heat the swimming pool using solar panels.

We are gradually replacing all our light bulbs with the new energy efficient versions.

We are restricting the use of the spa and sauna to prime weeks and levying a small tariff to help cover some of the running costs.

With the exception of Carp, all cottages have wood burners and wood is collected from our woods.

If you do not require our bedding (you bring your own bedding) please let us know at the time of booking and we deduct 2.50 per single bed and 5.00 per double bed from your final balance.

All our lofts are fully insulated.

We would ask guests to let us know if they are placing a home order with Tesco so that we can try and co-ordinate deliveries to save on duplicate trips.

We have replaced dated oil fired boilers in the Farm House and Oaktree with new and much more efficient units.

Despite our efforts, the many increases in electricity costs over the last year will mean that the electricity meters can consume between 20-30 pounds per week depending on usage and size of cottage. We apologise in advance for this and whilst we shop around for our electricity to get the best rates possible, the recent government levy on sustainability grounds and the attitude of most European suppliers to use any increase in oil prices to dramatically raise their tariffs, unfortunately means we have to pass some of the cost on.
